Artistic Statement

        Sometimes the creative process is not easy, but once the ideas start coming in, it is unstoppable. The creative content I long to produce consists of photography, video, animation with some fictional narrative. The elements surrounding this content will be about many things from entertainment to politics. In the world we are currently living in, everyone has an opinion on America’s current political state and I would definitely shed some light on that. Not only America, but the world seems to be in turmoil and I have a lot on my mind about it. Also, being born and raised in Washington Heights, my parents and I have watched the historical neighborhood change over the years. I would dive deep into the changes with multiple perspectives of my family and other residents. This would showcase how these changes have really impacted people and the culture seen throughout Washington Heights. I’m also heavily into pop culture, whether it be the latest movie buzz or the most viral memes. These elements make us realize most of think and feel the same way or share the same interests. With experience in acting and a fascination for the craft of it, I am inspired to convey real emotions in any moving images I create. Michael Jackson is my biggest inspiration as far as celebrities and well known figures go. Michael greatly surpassed boundaries of what was thought of as “possible” and broke racial barriers all while entertaining the world for over 40 years. He broke the mold for what music entertainment could really be through video format and live performance. He serves as a huge inspiration in making sure all of my content is creative and thought provoking. Any work posted, I want to know had a lot of time, effort and creativity put into it. Anyone that comes across my work, I want them to click off of it feeling an emotion. That way I know my content was successful in producing a reaction.

Relationships Between Shots

It (1990) - Eddie Shower Scene   The setup scene starts off as a medium shot of many excited kids running out of gym class. The camera stays focused on Eddie and the gym teacher in medium shot. It then goes to a jump cut of a high angle view of Eddie in the school shower. As discussed, high angles make the subject seem very vulnerable and Eddie was already scared to take showers so it goes hand and hand. After the high angle, a continuous edit is made which shows a matched action shot of Eddie taking off his towel from a high angle to a medium shot. This process is repeated as Eddie turns on the shower heads. A pan shot is then shown of all the shower heads turning on by themselves bursting with water. A point of view shot is established as Eddie turns around looking at all the shower heads and knobs turn by themselves. Another high angle shot is shown of Eddie being cornered by all the extending shower heads bursting with water putting him in another vulnerable position...

Soundwalk

Walking down Broadway on 145th street, the first sounds that pierce my eardrums are that of a bus stopping and unloading passengers. I hear the clutter of people stepping off. It is the late afternoon, many people have gotten off of work and school. I hear mini conversations as I breeze by people. The sound marks are a mixture of the English and Spanish language every block I walk. I’m in Hamilton Heights, right between Harlem and Washington Heights, which is heavily populated with people of Latin descent. This lets me know I’m in my neighborhood. It is more chilly than usual. I hear the leaves in the trees crinkle and the branches shake. As I cross streets, the light turns yellow. The sudden uproar of car engines start as the light turns green. Screeching tires and pressed cement. The chitter chatter of Con Edison workers as they work on the side of the street folds into unexpected vibrations felt and heard by their truck.
